| Photo editing- How to make your content Insta worthy |
Hey all, this week has been very busy with moving all my things back up to Maynooth and settling into my new home for my final year (even thinking about that is so scary- how did I get to my final year, I still feel like a baby) but I have finally unpacked everything and made it my own little space. I was dreading packing everything up especially my clothes because to my surprise I have A LOT (I never imagined I would fill the car with clothes and belongings but I did haha oh well, a gal doesn't travel light. I am the kind of gal that likes variety in their wardrobe and the one thing I leave at home will be the piece of clothing I want to wear constantly so I have to take everything. You think you would be used to moving home and back after a couple of years but you really don't, there is a massive difference every year and you definitely learn something new every year.
Ok so I am so off topic for this blogpost, if you follow me on Instagram (FASHIONFOLLOWS ) you will know that I love creating visual content and editing photos. I post most days on my profile and I get such a buzz from creating and seeing visuals come together whether it's through editing or from capturing a simple moment through a lens. I am your standard broke af student, I definitely don't have the money to have high tech equipment so I like to use my phone but play around with many apps and filters which sometimes can be more effective than having fancy equipment that you can't use properly.
Sometimes a good photo can depend on- lighting, angles and colour.
If your lighting is on point you won't have to use any filtering in my opinion, clear and bright should be enough and looks more authentic.
Angles- for outfit pictures sometimes it can depend on the way you stand or move in a photo that can capture the your right angle and I really like candid photos (most real and fluid to an audience, I feel content that is personal and real receives more engagement from viewers)
Colour- posts with colour will naturally draw the attention of users on Instagram, I try and ensure my content is colourful because it is eye catching and creates a solid unconventional theme on my profile.
Some apps you need to try:
Huji- everyone and their mother has used this app and I just love it. I use it for most of my content and it is so easy to use, if you haven't heard of it you have been living under a rock. If you like the 90s Polaroid picture vibes drop a download and get snapping.
Lomograph- another 90s picture vibe, but you can add the filters to your normal photo taken on your original camera. You can adjust the filter to suit your taste and you have the option of many shades and tones through this app. I only use it sometimes but I usually use HUJI.
InShot- This app is amazing for re sizing your photos and editing small clips for video content. I would be lost without it at times, I use this app to edit my stylebook which can be located on my IGTV. It is extremely easy to use and if you are like me wanting make sure your posts are aesthetic af you will love it.
Although 90 percent of my photos are captured with Huji, it is still ideal to have the option to edit but always remember the best photos are the one left untouched, that represent a true reflection of the moment and the person.
All the apps mentioned above are available on IOS.
